Top Five Tax Tips for 2009
The IRS has released their top ten tax tips and we are presenting the first five tips here now. Continue to check back with us with future tax tips and great online refund filing options from our great sponsors.
1. Gather your records. Get all your receipts and documents for any deductions you are planning to take this tax season.
2. Do some research. Publication 17 from the IRS highlights everything you need to know to file your 2008 taxes this year.
3. Plan your filing options. Do you want to use an online free filing option, prepare your return with a CPA or do the return yourself at home with one of the software packages available.
4. Compare your tax forms. Find all the forms you’ll need on the IRS website and compare the forms to last years for differences in the returns and possible new deductions and credits.
5. There’s no rush. You have to mid April to file your return and get file an extension if you need extra time so there’s no rush. Make sure you get every deduction and possibly compare the results of more than one online return filing provider.
